Counsel from the Greats: J.K. Rowling

“You might never fail on the scale I did, but some failure in life is inevitable.  It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all.” ~~ J.K. Rowling

From Lauren’s Perspective:

She captures it perfectly when she says, “we do not need magic to transform our world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.”  I watched J.K. Rowling’s Commencement Address a few years ago and was incredibly moved by it.  I’ve decided to post it now as a precursor for what is coming soon.  J.K. Rowling has a gift with words that I greatly admire and here she proves that she can write them as well as she can speak them.  She talks about the benefits of failure with great words of wisdom, “life is difficult and complicated and beyond anyone’s total control.  And the humility to know that will enable you to survive its vicissitudes.”  And she talks about the importance of imagination, “I think the willfully unimaginative see more monsters, they are often more afraid.”  Her insights are definitely worth listening to, and her casual mentions of that magical world she created are more than satisfying, so please do if you haven’t already:
