About Us

 Lauren and Krista

Together we are Lauren Gowing and Krista Brenner, best friends for 23 years.  We read books and we write about them.  We hope to one day write books and have other people write about reading them.  We disappear in words and we adore them.  We are in no way qualified to critique books except that we have both listened to English professors who believed they were qualified to critique books at our respective Universities.  We don’t believe that any amount of school can qualify someone for such a personal act, so instead, we are just going to share our opinions.

We’re not pretentious, we read everything.  Our favourites range from classics like Lolita by Nabokov, to cult favourites like Invisible Monsters by Palahniuk, to children’s literature like Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.  We’ll never tell you what to think about a bubble , instead we aim to just tell you what we think about the bubble.  Feel free to disagree.  We’re often wrong.

If you are unsure of a book, let us know, we’ll read it for you and tell you if it’s worth your time.

Words are our solace, so we promise to always give them our respect.

  1. Krista- found words to heal the pain and felt the need to get in touch. I’m also going through a loss (and I’m Canadian). Blogging has been very theraputic during this whole ordeal. Would love to compare notes sometime. I found great comfort in your death-versary post. Mine (my dad’s) death-versary is coming up soon. Thanks for sharing. Good to know I’m not alone.

    • Thank you for getting in touch and I am glad you did even if it meant finding me through this blog. I hope you can continue to find some type of solace in your words the same as I do. Grief affects all of us and I can only hope that anything I share on http://www.wordstohealthepain.wordpress.com can help someone else in some way. You definitely are not alone in this.

      • sorry I found you via the wrong place. I did look at your other blog, but noticed the entries were from Feb. weren’t sure if you were posting regularly. Thanks for directing me. Take good care.

      • Here to help direct. I’m glad you found me. Grief is a terrible journey to be on and it gives me so much comfort knowing there are so many of us.
